Academician at Manado State University (UNM) North Sulawesi, Prof. DR. OC Kaligis sent a letter to the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office regarding corruption in the tin commodity trade system in Bangka Belitung involving Hendry Lie who is suspected of being sick.
Prof. Kaligis in Jakarta, Tuesday (28/5/2024) said that his party had sent a letter to the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office addressed to the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes with number 351/OCK.V/2024.
“The information we heard was that Hendry Lie was previously a player who had close relationships with certain individuals when facing legal problems,” he said.
He said that compared to the corruption case experienced by Lucas Enembe, the former Governor of Papua who finally died while seeking justice suffering from stage four cancer, the prosecutor still detained him.
His party hopes that Hendry Lie will remain in detention, that he is deliberately sick to avoid his arrest.
According to him, this letter was deliberately written to Jampidsus so that he could investigate the person who played on Hendry Lie’s illness.
The question arose, he said, as to whether it was true that based on the doctor’s examination, the investigator stated that he was sick or whether he had been deliberately rushed to Singapore (if this is true) before the arrest.
He added that he still thinks that Hendry Lie is being protected by prosecutors because he will definitely not be arrested until this case is finished.
Kaligis hopes that this letter will be a consideration for further legal action, even though he is in a hospital in Singapore, the prosecutor’s office, based on the extradition agreement and legal cooperation, means that Hendry can be taken to Jakarta.
The law faculty professor said that the information was conveyed to the Attorney General’s Office so that the investigation could be completed optimally.
