Commemorating World Environment Day, the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) planted 100,000 trees simultaneously throughout Indonesia.

The tree planting was led by the Minister of ATR/Head of BPN, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) who was accompanied by the Trustee of the ATR/BPN Employee and Wives Association (IKAWATI), Annisa Pohan Yudhoyono.

This activity took place online and offline at the Bekasi Regency Office Complex, Wednesday (05/06/2024).

The number of trees planted in each area is 200 trees.

In Bekasi Regency itself, there are two types of trees planted on one hectare of empty land, namely 180 mahogany tree seedlings and 20 fruit tree seedlings with a tree seedling height of around 50 centimeters.

“Today is special, every June 5, nations around the world commemorate World Environment Day and of course Indonesia always wants to be.

“Not only as a responsible world citizen but also as a champion, one of the champions in matters of environmental preservation,” said Minister AHY.

For this reason, he said that the Ministry of ATR/BPN as an important element of government was also providing solutions in the spirit of commemorating World Environment Day.

“We are encouraging this, we are simultaneously planting 100,000 trees throughout Indonesia and hopefully this can contribute to our environment,” said Minister AHY.

He hopes that not only is symbolic, he hopes that tree planting will be a real action that will not only benefit Indonesia but also have economic value and increase people’s income.

“Including what we plant is mahogany, which we know as a type of plant that is very effective at reabsorbing carbon released into the air,” continued the Minister of ATR/Head of BPN.

For the real contribution made to the environment, he appreciated the hard work of all his staff.

“Thank you for your hard work, not only here but throughout Indonesia.

“I know that this is our joint effort in the midst of our busy schedules and daily lives, always making time to preserve our environment,” said the Minister of ATR/Head of BPN.

In principle, Minister AHY stated that the Ministry of ATR/BPN is ready to support all policies of the President of the Republic of Indonesia in efforts to increase sustainable economic growth and a green economy.

Among the forms of support is improving regulations related to carbon trading and sustainable spatial planning.

“How we prepare regulatory instruments for carbon trading is our future, as well as how we prepare a spatial plan that is more sustainable.

“There is a balance between the need for economic growth and protecting our environment,” concluded Minister AHY.

For your information, the status of the land where this is planted has been certified with a Right to Use certificate from the Bekasi Regency Government for the Bekasi Regency Land Office.

The planting of 100,000 trees this time refers to the big theme of World Environment Day 2024, namely “Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience”, which means focusing on land restoration.

Desertification, and drought resistance. One concrete form of implementing this theme is participating in activities that support land restoration, one of which is planting trees.

Also attending this activity were a number of Middle and Primary High Leadership Officials of the Ministry of ATR/BPN, the Head of the BPN Regional Office for West Java Province and his staff; and Acting The Regent of Bekasi and the ranks of the Bekasi Regency Forkopimda.

All staff from 33 Provincial BPN Regional Offices and 479 Land Offices in districts/cities throughout Indonesia were present online to carry out this concrete action to preserve the environment.
