Planting Onions After Planting Stakes, Minister AHY: Let’s Contribute to Food Security

Depok, POSINTERNATIONAL.COM

Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) planted onion seeds at the Depok City Food Security Urban Farming, Thursday (06/06/2024) afternoon.

“I am grateful and very happy, even though it was not previously planned, I was able to directly visit one of the important projects, food security, which is being carried out by the ranks of Kodim 0508 Depok. Of course, working together, synergizing with various other agencies.

“Therefore, I would like to thank and congratulate Mr. Dandim, Infantry Colonel Iman Widhiarto who has made various efforts to contribute to food security, not only in Depok or West Java, but of course this will contribute nationally,” said Minister AHY.

The Minister of ATR/Head of BPN revealed that this was an impromptu agenda which was only announced this morning.

“To tell you a little story, I just visited the field because my target is not only carrying out duties in the ministry, in the office, but also actually going out into the field more often.

Previously, I carried out field work and at the same time reviewed the implementation of stake installation and land measurements, land measurements using GPS.

Of course, the intention is how we continue to organize regional space in Indonesia, West Java, including Depok so that all the people have clear Land Rights Certificates, so that they have legal force.

“Sir/Madam know that there are a lot of land problems because of overlap, both between residents and between communities and corporations, even with government assets,” he said.

“So this often happens here and there. Therefore, our enthusiasm from President Joko Widodo, the Agrarian Reform policy, includes how every community has a certificate.

We now have a true Electronic Land Certificate, which is easier, safer and more economically profitable. This is something we must continue to maintain.

So, Mr. Dandim, because we actually used to communicate quite often when we were in the Army, asked me, do you have time to stop by for a while at urban farming?” continued Minister AHY.

Furthermore, he said that according to Dandim 0508 Depok, today will be the first day for planting onions. “I said, How far? Turns out it wasn’t that far off.

“Wow, God willing, I will come and without planning I can be here, thank you once again, and it turns out I’m really ready,” explained Minister AHY.

Minister AHY also emphasized the importance of food security in the future, considering that the number of people is also increasing.

“If we talk about more and more humans, we definitely need to eat more and more. Indonesia must have food security and that starts with agricultural productivity.

Who does it? Farmers in the agricultural sector, including businesses, must be stronger for their agribusiness, but what is being run by the TNI and the Army today is extraordinary because it is not actually their main task, but for the sake of Indonesia, for the sake of the people, they are working together to build food security.

“That’s the army’s job, but our enemy is not only the enemy who uses weapons, but our enemy is also hunger,” said AHY.

“If there is land drought, there are no agricultural products, many are hungry, some are stunted, some cannot eat, that also becomes a conflict, a problem.

So that’s actually our job too. It’s all our job. So I appreciate it once again, hopefully with development continuing to grow, we can also continue to protect the environment.

Don’t let our land only be used for physical development but over time the plants and trees become less and less. Therefore, ladies and gentlemen, let’s take good care of it together. Thank you for the honor bestowed upon me today.

“Hopefully the urban farming will be successful and can also bring good economic value to the community, managers and cultivators together with the ranks of the Kodim,” concluded Minister AHY.

Minister AHY on this occasion wore a brown short-sleeved shirt, hat and boots when planting onions. Also accompanying Minister AHY were a number of Middle and Primary High Leadership Officials within the Ministry of ATR/BPN.
