Commemorating Canada’s 157th National Day, Minister AHY Conveys Indonesia-Canada Bilateral Journey Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN).

Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) was the Guest of Honor at the Canada 157th Anniversary Commemoration, Wednesday (03/07/2024) at the Fairmont Hotel, Jakarta.

In this activity, Minister AHY briefly reviewed the journey of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Canada as well as hopes and opportunities for the future.

During Canada’s National Day, which is celebrated every July 1, Minister AHY said that for the last 70 years, Indonesia and Canada have had a strong partnership.

Built on the basis of mutual respect, shared values, and common aspirations between the two countries.

“Our diplomatic relations have also developed rapidly and significantly, primarily contributing to global peace and development.

“Indonesia and Canada have collaborated well in various fields, such as the trade, culture and inter-community relations sectors,” said the Minister of ATR/Head of BPN.

Minister AHY also proudly said that the personal relationship between the two Indonesian-Canadian leaders was also very good and had a positive impact on bilateral relations between the two parties.

“Each of them is often met on various occasions, such as at the G20 and ASEAN Summits, to discuss efforts to expand and strengthen our increasingly close partnership,” he said.

He hopes that the Indonesia-Canada partnership will continue to develop.

“Together, we can face challenges, seize opportunities, and can build a more peaceful, prosperous, sustainable, and inclusive world for all.

Happy Canada Day!” said Minister AHY. On this occasion, the Canadian Ambassador to Indonesia.

Jess Dutton, said that it is not only about bilateral relations between Indonesia and Canada, but Indonesia and Canada themselves have many similarities.

“Each of us has strong democratic values, natural resources and diversity. Multicultural Canada is becoming very strong.

“It’s the same as Indonesia which is strong because of the principle of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika,” he said.

“This collaboration starts from economic agreements, together in overcoming climate change, gender equality, even collaborating with other institutions,” concluded Jess Dutton. (trisno).
