Witness Dono Purwoko admitted that he had never given money to the former head of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Prison, Ahmad Fauzi, who was indicted by the prosecutor in a trial at the Central Jakarta District Court.
“During the period from June to August 2022, I never transferred or gave cash to the defendant,” said Dono Purwoko in Jakarta, Monday (2/9/2024) answering questions from his attorney Desyana from the OC Kaligis law office.
Ahmad Fauzi was charged by the prosecutor along with 14 other fellow prison members with asking money from KPK prisoners at the Guntur Military Police, South Jakarta.
The prosecutor presented six witnesses, namely Dono Purwoko, Elvianto, Roosari, Sofiyah Alaydrus, Siti Jamila and Gunawan Setianto, but of the witnesses, only Dono was a KPK prisoner when Ahmad Fauzi was Karutan.
There was a question from the lawyer OC Kaligis that he asked for confirmation whether the witness was aware of the monthly fee, and the witness answered that he did not understand because there was no report.
“As far as I know, there was no involvement of the defendant Ahmad Fauzi because he only communicated with Mr. Yori and Mr. Topan,” said Dono.
Meanwhile, the KPK prosecutor accused Ahmad Fauzi of asking for money from prisoners but this was denied because during his tenure from June to August 2022 there was no receipt of money or transfer.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Fauzi’s attorney, Prof. OC Kaligis, said that the prosecutor’s indictment should not be accepted by the Central Jakarta District Court judge chaired by Surono.
This is because Ahmad Fauzi never received money from KPK prisoners either in cash or transfer or through subordinates.
Kaligis said that in reality a person who is made a defendant according to Article 184 of the Criminal Procedure Code must have two pieces of evidence, while in the description it is not clear who committed a crime so the indictment is weak.
