The Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) represented by Ossy Dermawan as Deputy Minister (Wamen) of ATR/Deputy Head (Waka) of BPN received a Report on the Results of a Systematic Study on Prevention of Maladministration in Palm Oil Industry Governance Services from the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia (ORI), Monday (11/18/2024).
Based on the report, the Ministry of ATR/BPN received a recommendation to follow up on the resolution of overlapping oil palm plantation land with forest areas.
Deputy Minister Ossy said that the Ministry of ATR/BPN will work hard to find a solution, synergizing with the Ministry of Forestry, Ministry of Agriculture, and other related agencies to find the right solution regarding this matter.
“I am sure that with the spirit of eliminating sectoral egos, and prioritizing President Prabowo’s vision and mission to pursue the greatest possible welfare and prosperity for our people, we believe that all problems must have a solution,” he said at the Indonesian Ombudsman Office, Jakarta.
Synergy and collaboration between agencies, especially the Ministry of ATR/BPN with the Ministry of Forestry, are very necessary, because according to Deputy Minister Ossy, the problems that occur are still within the authority of the Ministry of Forestry.
“The problem of oil palm plantation areas in forest areas, if the problem of overlapping plantation areas does not yet have land rights.
Then according to the laws and regulations, it is still the domain of the Ministry of Forestry, unless we find a new breakthrough to find a solution,” he said.
However, Ossy continued, if the problem of overlapping plantation areas with forest areas is a plantation that already has land rights, the Ministry of ATR/BPN will coordinate closely with the Ministry of Forestry to find a solution.
On this occasion, the Deputy Minister of ATR/Deputy Head of BPN appreciated the Indonesian Ombudsman for conducting a systemic study.
He considered this study very much needed so that the management of palm oil plantations can become one of the leading commodities in the Indonesian agricultural sector in providing higher welfare for the Indonesian people.
“As we strive to achieve the economic growth targeted by President Prabowo, we are trying to achieve economic growth of 8%, and the management of palm oil plantations will be one of the important factors or elements to achieve this goal,” explained Ossy Dermawan.
At this meeting, at least the Indonesian Ombudsman gave five main suggestions to the government in order to improve palm oil management.
The goal is for the palm oil industry to be more competitive and become a booster for Indonesia’s economic growth.
Member and Head of the Main Assistant III of the Indonesian Ombudsman, Yeka Hendra Fatika said that improving this management could contribute to increasing the value of the capacity of the palm oil industry.
“Because there is an extraordinary value if we change the management (there is an addition) of almost around Rp300 trillion, this will contribute to increasing the value of the palm oil industry capacity which is now valued at around Rp729 trillion, if added to become Rp1,008 trillion,” said Yeka Hendra Fatika.
On this occasion, the Deputy Minister of ATR/Waka BPN was accompanied by the Director of Regulation and Determination of Land and Space Rights, Hasan Basri.
Also present were leaders from a number of ministries/institutions who also received recommendations from the Indonesian Ombudsman regarding palm oil management according to their authority.
