The Minister of ATR/Head of BPN explained that productive waqf is a concept in which waqf land is registered.

At the Media Gathering of the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Minister Nusron Wahid put forward an idea related to productive waqf.

According to him, this productive waqf could be one way to provide welfare to the community.

“So far, the concept of productive waqf has not been popular in Indonesia.

In the Middle East, it is already popular, there is even a waqf bank.

Therefore, we encourage cooperation with BWI (Indonesian Waqf Agency) to promote the importance of this productive waqf,” said Nusron Wahid when interacting with the media crew, (1/12/2024).

The Minister of ATR/Head of BPN explained that productive waqf is a concept in which waqf land is registered with a Management Rights Certificate (HPL), then on the land.

The Waqf Management Agency carries out productive activities that generate income.

The income from the waqf land can then be used for the benefit of the community.

Minister Nusron gave an example of how waqf land is managed in Saudi Arabia.

The land inherited from Utsman bin Affan was built into a magnificent hotel which then opened up employment opportunities, and the income was distributed to people in need.

In managing this productive waqf, Minister Nusron proposed to collaborate with the Land Bank so that the waqf land is maintained.

“Related to this, we can collaborate with the Land Bank, so the HPL can be below it in the name of the Land Bank, then above it activities can be carried out, one example of which is to support food security,” he said.

Present at this activity were the Deputy Minister of ATR/Deputy Head of BPN, Ossy Dermawan, a number of Senior High and Pratama Officials of the Ministry of ATR/BPN, and a number of journalists from various national media.
