Senior lecturer of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN), Dr. Indiwan Seto Wahyu Wibowo, has been appointed as an Exemplary Lecturer in the Field of Community Service for 2024, Thursday (09/01).
This award was given by the Association of Higher Education in Communication Sciences (ASPIKOM) for the Jabodetabek Region on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the UMN campus, Gading Serpong, Tangerang.
The Exemplary Lecturer award certificate was presented directly by the Chairperson of ASPIKOM for the Jabodetabek Region, Dr. Rini Sudarmanti, S.Sos., M.Sc., in front of a number of administrators, lecturers, and students who were present at the Lecture Theater, Building D, UMN Campus.
This award ceremony is part of the National Communication Jamboree, which also gives awards to a number of outstanding students and winners of competitions organized by ASPIKOM for the Jabodetabek Region.
The event was attended by various campus officials in the Jabodetabek area, including UMN Vice Chancellor, Prof. Friska Natalia.
After the event, Dr. Indiwan Seto explained to the media that one of the criteria for an exemplary lecturer in the field of community service is the extent to which the activity provides benefits to residents around the campus.
“I emphasize my community service activities in the field of environmental health, AI development for MSMEs, and disaster risk reduction in Tangerang Regency,” said the Communication Science lecturer who is a doctoral graduate of the University of Indonesia.
According to him, Tangerang Regency has many environmental health problems, especially in waste management, which is still a major problem.
In fact, in early 2025, the Tangerang Regency Environment and Sanitation Service (DLHK) collected 69.93 tons of waste from New Year’s Eve activities.
“Lecturers should think and take more serious action in helping the government, especially residents around the campus.
I try to provide awareness and training on how to reduce waste through propaganda and environmental cleanliness campaigns, including through podcasts in collaboration with the Tangerang Healthy Regency Forum and related agencies,” he added.
Dr. Indiwan Seto’s community service activities are very diverse, because he is also actively involved in various organizations in Tangerang Regency.
In addition to being a lecturer in Communication, he contributes to increasing the capacity of the Disaster Risk Reduction Forum administrators and acts as a partner in a number of media and press organizations, such as the Indonesian Journalists Association of Tangerang Regency.
This man who loves to create digital content is also a member of the Expert Council at the Indonesian Cyber Media Network of Tangerang Regency.
From 2024 to 2029, Dr. Indiwan Seto was also elected as Chair of the Tangerang Branch Board (DPC) of the Indonesian Professional Assessor Association (IASPRO).
In addition, he collaborates with the Karang Tumatitis National Padepokan, the Leader of Ananta Wahana.
To hold training aimed at increasing the capacity of Tangerang Regency residents in utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) for success in their business and education.
