Therefore, efforts to build a literate society cannot be done in isolation.

TANGERANG, POSINTERNASIONAL.COM.

The Tangerang Regency Government (Pemkab) is committed to developing superior human resources from the grassroots level through the Inauguration of Village/Sub-district Literacy Mothers throughout Tangerang Regency in 2025, held on Tuesday (12/16).

This activity is a strategic step to strengthen literacy culture amidst the increasingly complex challenges of the digital era.

The Head of the Tangerang Regency Family Welfare Movement (TP PKK), Rismawati Maesyal Rasyid, emphasized that literacy is no longer defined solely as the ability to read and write.

Amidst the rapid flow of digital information, literacy has evolved into the ability to understand, sort,

and produce information intelligently and responsibly by utilizing digital technology.

“In the digital era, literacy is not only about reading and writing, but also about how people can use digital technology, the internet, and social media to search for, understand,

and produce useful information,” she explained at the Tangerang Regent’s Hall on Monday (12/15).

According to her, digitalization presents a unique challenge for Literacy Mothers in carrying out their roles within families and communities.

Therefore, efforts to build a literate society cannot be done in isolation.

Instead, it requires collaborative work across regional government agencies (OPD) and stakeholders.

“This is a collective effort to create a religious, intelligent, healthy, and prosperous Tangerang Regency community.

This aligns with the regional vision and supports the realization of Golden Indonesia 2045,” she said.

On the same occasion, the Chairperson of the Family Welfare Movement (TP PKK), Rismawati Maesyal, also expressed her appreciation to the Tangerang Regency Library and Archives Office.

The Chairperson of the TP PKK initiated and organized the inauguration of Village and Sub-district Literacy Mothers in 2025 as part of a sustainable regional literacy movement.

She hopes that the inaugurated Literacy Mothers will be able to become driving forces for literacy in their respective regions.

Their role is expected to be more than symbolic, but also tangible, as motivators and inspirations for the community, especially the younger generation, to develop a love of reading, writing, and critical thinking.

“Literacy Mothers must be able to build networks and collaborate with various parties, from schools and communities to the mass media.

With collaboration, the literacy movement can reach a wider audience and have a greater impact,” said Rismawati Maesyal, Chairperson of the Family Welfare Movement (TP PKK).

Furthermore, she encouraged the development of innovative and contextual literacy programs, as well as the concrete role models of Literacy Mothers in their daily lives.

This role model is considered crucial for fostering awareness of literacy as a necessity, not merely a ceremonial activity.

“Through a strong, widespread, and sustainable literacy movement, we will not only improve the quality of human resources but also advance Tangerang Regency as a whole,” she concluded.
