Tangerang Regent Moch. Maesyal Rasyid performed the Friday Prayer Tour (Jumling) with the community at the Baiturrohman Mosque in Kedung Village, Gunung Kaler District, on January 31, 2026.
On this occasion, Regent Maesyal Rasyid announced that the program of congregational Friday prayers in villages has been reintroduced since 2025 and will continue.
On an ongoing basis, we aim to strengthen ties and gather community input.
“Today, we have come specifically to fulfill one of our program obligations, namely congregational Friday prayers in villages.
Alhamdulillah, starting in 2025, we will be resuming this outreach program in villages and sub-districts through congregational Friday prayers.
God willing, we will continue this program in the future, as long as there are no official agendas on Fridays,” said Regent Maesyal Rasyid.
On this occasion, the Regent also apologized to the community for only being able to conduct Friday tours to the Gunung Kaler area due to various obstacles.
Particularly the flooding that has not only occurred in Tangerang Regency but also throughout Indonesia, including Aceh, Medan, Padang, Karawang, West Bandung, and Pati.
“Of the 29 sub-districts in Tangerang Regency, 27 were affected by flooding, while the other two sub-districts did not experience flooding.
This situation is a test for all of us.
The local government continues to go out into the field to visit communities and seek solutions to address the flooding.
We never take a break in serving the community,” he emphasized.
He continued, explaining that the local government is also continuing to implement technical measures, such as building floodgates on several rivers that overflowed due to heavy rainfall.
He also encouraged the community to revive the culture of mutual cooperation, particularly in maintaining environmental cleanliness.
He is repairing water channels and regulating waste disposal.
“This flooding is not due to a breached embankment, but rather to the high rainfall, long duration of rainfall, and water inflow from upstream areas.
Tangerang Regency, as a downstream area, is certainly severely impacted,” he explained.
The Regent also stated that the Governor of Banten had visited and coordinated with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BBWS) and regional heads in the Greater Tangerang area to minimize the impact of the flooding and find long-term solutions.
“According to information, this flood is a 100-year cycle, with very high and evenly distributed rainfall.
Hopefully, with preparedness and mutual cooperation, we can minimize the impact,” he said.
He stated that, according to reports, 102 villages in 27 sub-districts were affected by the flooding.
The Tangerang Regency Government, through the Social Services Agency and related regional agencies, has been directly involved in the flooding to provide assistance to affected communities.
After performing Friday prayers in congregation in Gunung Kaler District, the Tangerang Regent then directly inspected the flooded area in Kresek District, particularly the area of the Subulussalam Islamic Boarding School.
“We want to ensure that the government is present in the sub-districts and villages, standing with the community in addressing the flooding issue.
Let us pray to Allah SWT, rain is a blessing, may the waters recede soon and Tangerang Regency be spared from future flooding,” he concluded.
