Tangerang, POSINTERNASIONAL.COM.
The Deputy Regent of Tangerang, Intan Nurul Hikmah, officially opened the Cross-Sector Synergy for Radicalism Prevention among high school and vocational high school students throughout Tangerang Regency, held at the Tangerang Regency Government Center’s Multipurpose Building (GSG), Tigaraksa, on February 4, 2026.
In her remarks, Deputy Regent Intan emphasized the importance of strengthening character education, role models, and strengthening national values for the younger generation.
Especially high school and vocational high school students, to prevent the influx of radicalism.
“The best defense against this is character education, role models, and strengthening national values. To prevent radicalism from entering our children.
Especially at the high school level, this activity involves teachers and students with various competent resource persons,” Deputy Regent Intan concluded.
According to him, radicalism does not always manifest in the form of violence, but often enters subtly through misleading information, hate speech, and calls to action packaged as if they were the most correct.
All efforts to prevent and address radicalism must be continuously supported by all parties, across multiple sectors, not just the government but also the education sector.
Academics, religious leaders, community leaders, and students themselves as vulnerable groups.
“Radicalism often enters subtly through misleading information, hate speech, and calls to action packaged as the most correct.
It is our collective responsibility, from the education sector, families, religious leaders, community leaders, and even students themselves, to work together to prevent it,” he emphasized.
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of adequate digital literacy and wise use of social media.
He believes that in the current digital era, the spread of radical ideology, hate speech, and intolerant content is widely infiltrated through the digital platforms and devices used by students daily.
“We cannot restrict children’s access to digital information.
What we can provide is an understanding of how to use social media as wisely as possible.
What is uploaded, shared, and absorbed must be thoroughly studied and carefully considered, because hate speech alone violates the law,” he explained.
He continued, stating that cross-sector synergy is also key to creating a safe, conducive educational environment free from the influence of intolerance and radicalism, which often attacks and influences students.
“When the government, schools, parents, religious leaders, community leaders, and students work together, the space for ideologies that undermine unity will be increasingly limited,” he added.
He hopes that these activities can continue to be implemented sustainably and in stages as an early prevention effort.
Through activities like these, it is hoped that students’ understanding and knowledge of radicalism will be strengthened so that they are not easily provoked and can become role models and inspire other students.
“My children are the successors to this nation’s leadership. The future of this region and country rests on your shoulders.
Hopefully, this activity will not be limited to today, but will continue and be implemented in stages, from elementary school to middle school, so that radicalism will never enter Tangerang Regency,” he said.
The activity was attended by accompanying teachers and representatives of high school and vocational school students from across Tangerang Regency. Speakers from Densus 88.
The Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Agency, and social organizations at the Banten Province level, were presented as part of an effort to strengthen cross-sector collaboration in preventing radicalism in educational settings.
