He also expressed his gratitude to the landowner, Edi Setiawan, for granting permission to the farmer group to use his land.

TANGERANG, POSINTERNASIONAL.COM.

Tangerang Regent Moch Maesyal Rasyid, along with members of the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), carried out a simultaneous planting of hybrid corn seeds in Ranca Iyuh Village, Panongan District, on March 8, 2026.

This activity was part of the Simultaneous Corn Planting Program (SPC) for the First Quarter of 2026, centered in Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra Province. It was attended in person by the National Police Chief and followed virtually nationwide.

In his remarks, Regent Maesyal Rasyid explained that the hybrid corn planting was a proactive step in responding to uncertain global situations,

such as the outbreak of international conflicts that have a direct impact on the export-import supply chain and global food availability.

“The world is not in a good state. There are wars impacting the economy and delaying food distribution.

We must also anticipate extreme summer heat. Therefore, we must be food self-sufficient.

We are collaborating with entrepreneurs and factories to maintain the economy and minimize the risk of layoffs,” said Regent Maesyal Rasyid.

He will continue to strengthen collaboration and synergy between the Regional Government, the National Police (Polri), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Attorney General’s Office (AGO), and the Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) to maintain and strengthen food security for the community, both through joint rice and hybrid corn planting programs and other crops.

“Through the continuation of the rice planting program with the TNI and hybrid corn with the Indonesian National Police (Polri), I am optimistic that food availability for the community will be maintained amidst global economic challenges,” he said.

He also encouraged all landowners in Tangerang Regency to optimize unused productive land in collaboration with the community.

He also expressed his gratitude to the landowner, Edi Setiawan, for granting permission to the farmer group to use his land.

“We are grateful to landowners, such as Mr. Edi Setiawan, who have allowed their land to be used.

This is a blessing. Rather than letting it sit idle, it’s better for the farmer group to plant corn.

The produce can be sold or consumed to improve community nutrition,” he said.

Furthermore, he also appreciated the initiative and innovation of the Tangerang Police Chief and his staff in the hybrid corn planting program, which is expected to further strengthen sustainable food security in Tangerang Regency.

“On behalf of the local government, we appreciate the innovation of the Police Chief and his staff regarding food security.

Hopefully, with strong food security, the community will be healthy, and the community will also be strong in carrying out their daily lives,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the Tangerang Police Chief, Senior Commissioner M. Indra Waspada, reported that this food security program is an implementation of the President of the Republic of Indonesia’s Asta Cita program.

Within the Tangerang Police’s jurisdiction, which covers 19 sub-districts, his team will increase the planting area in the first quarter.

“We are currently implementing a two-hectare program for one village, and we will add two more hectares in each sub-district this quarter.

We are committed to providing services to the community to achieve food self-sufficiency,” explained Police Chief Indra Waspada.

According to him, hybrid corn was chosen because it is focused on meeting national animal feed needs. The harvest will not be sold freely, but will be distributed directly through official channels.

“We will report the harvest from this hybrid corn and distribute it to Bulog for storage.

This is our shared responsibility, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), along with the Regional Government and the community, to ensure food availability remains secure,” he explained.
