Tangerang Prosecutor Brings Two Debt Collectors to Court Tangerang,thunday (30/01)

Tangerang, Banten Public Prosecutor (JPU), Achmad Rismandhani dragged two debt collectors.

Rianto Siasmiyanto Tateni and Rusly Senge to the local district court on charges of forcibly towing Sangki Wahyudin’s vehicle on the highway.

Victim Sangki Wahyudin in Tangerang, Tuesday (30/1/2024) said he had an argument with the two defendants on the Tangerang Regency Regional Government Highway.

Near the Cikupa District office because the debt collector thought his motorbike had not been paid for even though he already had a BPKB.

He said that the two defendants wanted to seize the motorbike, after explaining it, they still wanted to control it, and finally reported the case to the Tangerang Police Headquarters.

In the trial chaired by judge Achmad Irfir Rochman which took place online for 13 minutes, the two defendants were detained at Jambe Detention Center, Tangerang Regency.

“I ask the local police to curb the activities of debt collectors and not allow them to seize vehicles on the road,” he said.

The matter was revealed on Thursday (26/10/2023) when the two defendants, who claimed to be from a finance company, attempted to forcibly take the motorbike driven by the former Chairman of the Tangerang Regency PWI for the 2019-2022 period.

However, the prosecutor charged the two defendants with Article 363 of the Criminal Code paragraphs 1 and 2 which carries a maximum penalty of six years in prison.

In fact, previously, the former Tangerang Police Chief and currently Banten Deputy Police Chief.

Brigadier General Sabilul Alif, had several times handled cases of vehicles being confiscated on the side of the road in this area by debt collectors by ordering the authorities to act decisively, if necessary shooting on the spot.

Seizing a debt collector’s vehicle is an illegal act and violates the law, namely Law no. 42 of 1999 concerning Fiduciary Guarantees.
