The Head of the Banten Province National Land Agency (BPN) Regional Office, Harison Mocodompis, accompanied by the Head of the Planning and Empowerment Division, Fahmi, and Heads of Land Offices throughout Greater Tangerang, attended a coordination meeting on flood management in the Greater Tangerang area on January 28, 2026.

The meeting, held at the Banten Governor’s Office (Banten Province BLKI Building), served as a strategic cross-agency forum to align integrated flood mitigation and disaster management measures.

The Governor of Banten Province, Andra Soni, stated that the Banten Provincial Government, along with the district/city governments in Greater Tangerang, continues to coordinate various flood mitigation efforts.

He highlighted the continued presence of illegal structures along several riverbanks, which are narrowing the river channels.

Therefore, steps are needed to normalize the rivers that flow through the area.

“There are several river normalization efforts based on the results of our visits or visits to flood-affected areas.
There are several areas experiencing narrowing, and we also found many inappropriate buildings along the riverbanks,” Andra explained.

Andra emphasized the importance of coordinating with the National Land Agency (BPN) Regional Office regarding the status of land rights and buildings along the riverbanks.

“We will coordinate with the regional land office to confirm the status of these rights.

Although we have rights, there are still obligations and prohibitions that must be complied with for the common good,” he emphasized.

Responding to this, Harison expressed the BPN’s commitment to supporting Provincial and Regency/City Government policies regarding flood mitigation.

“The Banten BPN is ready to oversee the revision of the Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW) to ensure it aligns with disaster mitigation.

We will also participate in controlling spatial use, both on land parcels with and without certificates.

If there are illegal buildings that obstruct water flow or cause flooding, we are ready to take action in accordance with regulations,” Harison emphasized.

Harison further added that the National Land Agency (BPN) will play an active role in facilitating land acquisition at strategic points for flood management.

“Land acquisition for river normalization and the construction of retention ponds in flood-prone areas will be prioritized and accelerated,” he said.

Through synergy between the local government and the Land Office, it is hoped that the land acquisition process and asset allocation for public interest can proceed more quickly and effectively.

This will ensure that flood mitigation efforts in Greater Tangerang can have a tangible impact on public comfort and safety.
