Tangerang Regent Moch. Maesyal Rasyid directly inspected the demolition process as part of the normalization of a culvert in the Villa Tangerang Elok housing complex, Kutajaya Village, Pasar Kemis District, on Monday (November 24, 2025).
This activity was carried out as an effort to mitigate the flooding that annually hits the area during the rainy season.
On this occasion, Regent Mesyal Rasyid, who personally assisted residents and vendors who voluntarily demolished buildings located above the culvert, explained that all parties in the seven affected neighborhood units (RW) had agreed.
To carry out the cleanup and normalization of the culvert for the public interest.
“Today, together with the Public Works and Water Resources Agency, the Village Leadership Coordination Forum (Muspika), the Sub-district Head, the Military District Commander (Danramil).
The Police Chief, and all neighborhood associations (RW) and neighborhood associations (RT) in Villa Tangerang Elok, we have agreed that the culverts in this area must be cleaned up and normalized,” explained Regent Maesyal Rasyid.
According to him, a joint agreement has been reached with all parties to address the impacts of the flooding that frequently affects the seven neighborhood associations (RW) in Kutajaya Village.
For the common good, all parties are openly and voluntarily demolishing the construction above the culvert so that the normalization of the water channel can be carried out immediately.
“For the public interest, we are working to organize and normalize the culvert. All shophouse owners are ready, as stated in the existing statement.
Hopefully, after this normalization is implemented, flooding will be reduced or even eliminated,” he added.
He also expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the support and awareness of the community who voluntarily supported the normalization program.
“Thank God, with high public awareness, shophouse owners and business owners have agreed to the normalization.
Please pray that this work will run smoothly,” he said.
He hopes this culvert normalization program can also be a long-term solution to reduce the risk of flooding.
It will also improve the environmental quality for residents of the Villa Tangerang Elok Housing Complex and its surroundings.
Meanwhile, Moses, a resident who has lived in the area since 2000, expressed his appreciation to the Regent and all his staff for their initiative to prioritize humane dialogue and visit the site directly.
“I’ve been here since 2000, and for 25 years, it’s been flooding every rainy season.
We must accept this so that flooding doesn’t happen again in the future. I’m setting an example by being ready to demolish the area.
Hopefully, other residents will follow suit. We’ve started today, and I’m ready to support it,” he said.
