Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Tangerang Regency, Soma Atmaja, opened the Cheap Food Movement (GPM) Market Operation event at Tigaraksa Square, Tangerang Regency Government Center, Wednesday (26/2/25).
The GPM market operation was held in order to help the community face the holy month of Ramadan by providing various basic necessities at more affordable prices.
“We are holding this Cheap Food Movement market operation to help the community, especially in order to face the holy month of Ramadan at more affordable prices,” said Soma.
According to him, the Tangerang Regency Government through the Industry and Trade Service, Agriculture Service and related parties collaborated to prepare 1,000 basic food packages consisting of sugar, cooking oil and wheat flour.
The basic food packages are sold at a price of IDR 52,000 per package, much cheaper than the economic price of IDR 95,200.
The local government provides a subsidy of IDR 43,200 per package to ease the burden on the community.
“Alhamdulillah, today we are holding a cheap market operation to help the community around Tigaraksa, Tangerang Regency, in welcoming the holy month of Ramadan.
Hopefully, activities like this can ease the burden on the community in meeting basic needs,” he said.
Furthermore, he explained that according to the direction of the Tangerang Regent and Deputy Regent of Tangerang, this GPM market operation activity will be carried out in all sub-districts in stages.
This cheap market operation is planned to be held at least twice in each sub-district ahead of Ramadan and Eid to ensure the distribution of cheap food evenly for the community.
“With this market operation, it is hoped that the community can obtain basic necessities at more affordable prices.
So that they can carry out the Ramadan worship more calmly and comfortably,” he said.
One of the people who joined the queue, Siti, a resident of Ciatuy, expressed her gratitude and thanks.
According to her, the Cheap Food Movement market operation is very helpful and useful, especially in facing the holy month of Ramadan.
“Alhamdulillah, thank you, Mr. Regent and Deputy Regent who have held a cheap market facing the fasting month. Hopefully this activity can be held again before Eid,” she said.
