The Tangerang Regency Government, through the Department of Industry and Trade (Disperindag), is holding the Affordable Food Movement (GPM) as a strategic effort to increase public access to affordable basic necessities ahead of the Chinese New Year celebrations.
The Tangerang Regency Government, through the Department of Industry and Trade, will conduct raids on traditional markets to ensure supplies remain available during the month of Ramadan.
The activity was held at the Arya Dipa Temple in Kosambi on Wednesday (February 11, 2026).
The Head of Disperindag, Resmiati Marningsih, explained that 1,000 food packages had been prepared for the activity, containing 4 kg of premium rice, 2 liters of cooking oil, 2 kg of granulated sugar, and 2 kg of wheat flour at market prices.
The package costs Rp170,600, but the local government is subsidizing it, so residents only pay Rp82,272.
“People who want to participate in this program can bring coupons distributed by the local government.
The main target group is people celebrating Chinese New Year, especially in the Kosambi area and its surroundings,” he said.
He explained that the Affordable Food Movement (GPM) aims to ease the burden on people in meeting basic needs ahead of Chinese New Year.
“With this program, people can obtain basic commodities such as rice, oil, sugar, and flour at more affordable prices.
This is one of the government’s efforts to improve public welfare, especially during important moments like Chinese New Year,” he said.
He hopes this activity will help people obtain basic commodities at more affordable prices, increase purchasing power, and provide social and economic support during the holiday period.
“Hopefully, with the GPM, people can celebrate Chinese New Year more festively and receive economic assistance. Hopefully, this activity can continue.
To increase people’s purchasing power and help them meet basic needs,” he hoped.
On the same occasion, Cikwa, a Kosambi resident, expressed her appreciation for the GPM program implemented by the Tangerang Regency Government, which has significantly reduced the economic burden on local residents.
“We are pleased with this program. Residents who previously had to buy goods at higher prices can now get goods at half price.
Hopefully, this program will be held annually to continue to help all levels of society, so that everyone can feel the benefits,” she concluded.
