The Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) of Tangerang Regency held a Multimedia Reporting program training.

The opening of the activity took place on Tuesday, November 13, 2024 at the PWI Tangerang Regency Secretariat.

The Chairperson of the PWI Tangerang Regency, Sri Mulyo said that this training aims to improve the ability of members, especially in adapting to the development of digital technology.

“In the current era of online media, journalists are faced with challenges with the rapid development of information technology, so we need to continue to upgrade our knowledge and skills in order to adapt,” he said.

Mulyo added that there are many new aspects in the current new media era, one of which is the presence of artificial intelligence (AI) which can be a tool to help journalists in deepening information.

However, he said, the use of AI will also backfire if it is not accompanied by an ethical attitude.

“Therefore, we need to emphasize to members that we must master information technology, be digitally literate, so that with various tools, one of which is AI.

Our journalistic skills can continue to be improved to produce journalistic works that can inspire and enlighten the public,” he explained.

This activity was opened by the Head of IKP at the Tangerang Regency Communication and Informatics Service, Suryadi, who represented the Acting Regent of Tangerang, Andi Oni.

In his remarks read by Suryadi, the Acting Regent appreciated the Tangerang Regency PWI Communication Academy program, one of which was this Multimedia Reporting Training.

“Through this training, we are sure and believe that Tangerang Regency PWI members will be able to produce better journalistic works that can inspire the public,” said Andi Oni.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Activity Implementation, Mohamad Romli explained that there were five main materials in this training, namely the use of AI intelligence for journalists, becoming creative content creators in the AI ​​Era, SEO optimization.

Optimizing monetization and multimedia reporting (producing content for press company social media platforms).

“We designed these five materials to answer the challenges in the current era of artificial intelligence, so that members of the Tangerang Regency PWI remain up to date and are able to work productively on various digital platforms,” ​​he concluded.

The first session of this training presented resource persons DR. Indiwan Seto Wahyu Wibowo, an academic from Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) who provided participants with skills in using AI in producing journalistic works.

Also present on the occasion were Tangerang Raya community figures Ananta Wahana, Subdit Ormas Kesbangpol Tangerang Regency Iman Kurniawan.
