Regent of Tangerang Moch. Maesyal Rasyid directly inspected the location of the broken embankment or pavement in the Mustika Tigaraksa Housing area, Tigaraksa District, Friday (5/12/25).
In the review, the Regent was accompanied by the Head of Water Resources (SDA) at the Road and SDA Department of Tangerang Regency, members of the District Council of Tigaraksa, including the Tigaraksa Sub-District, Chief of Police, Koramil, as well as local RW chairmen.
Tangerang Regent Maesyal Rasyid revealed that the damage to the embankment occurred as a result of high rainfall accompanied by strong winds the previous day and the age factor of the embankment which is already 20 years old.
“Alhamdulillah today, I along with SDA Bina Marga Dinas, Muspika, Mr. Camat, Mr. Chief of Police, Koramil, and the RW saw directly the condition of the collapse of the embankment or pavement that delimits the road and the river in Mustika Tigaraksa Housing.
Yesterday, it rained so much with high intensity and strong winds that it caused the embankment to collapse,” explained Regent Maesyal Rasyid
His party has also directly instructed the relevant department to carry out quick handling to prevent the risk of a wider flood, considering the current peak of the rainy season.
“Today we will transport the debris first.
Meanwhile, we will install bronjong as an emergency dike to prevent the river from overflowing. Because now is the rainy season, so we have to move fast.
If it doesn’t rain, the water may not overflow, but when it rains heavily, the water level may rise.
Overall, we will look at the next steps that must be taken,” he added.
He also repeatedly appealed to the whole community to work together to maintain the cleanliness of the environment, especially the waterways and not to throw away garbage indiscriminately.
“In this rainy season, I am asking the public to cooperate in maintaining cleanliness, especially the water channels that can be handled manually.
Please also do not throw garbage into the river, throw it where it belongs. Whenever there is something that needs to be handled, we will respond immediately,” he said.
Meanwhile, SDA Kabid at the Department of Public Works and SDA District. Tangerang, Rijal explained that his party immediately cleaned up the embankment debris that collapsed along about 20 meters.
“The SDA field will remove the debris from the collapse. After cleaning, we will install bronjong as a temporary embankment to anticipate the overflow of the river.
If it is not raining heavily, the water may not overflow, but if the rainfall is high, there is concern that the water discharge will increase if emergency handling is not carried out,” he explained.
He added that permanent repairs will be included in the budget plan for the year 2026. In addition, his party is currently checking the structural condition of other parts of the embankment around the broken embankment.
“Later, this embankment will be built permanently in the 2026 budget with a length of approximately 20 meters.
But we will also see other structures around the location.
If there is another part that needs repair, we will handle it outside the 20 meters.
This embankment itself is about 20 years old, so it is really worn out,” he said.
