The Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) will soon prepare a Land Acquisition Committee to support Indonesia’s infrastructure development.

This was conveyed by the Minister of ATR/Head of BPN, Nusron Wahid after a Coordination Meeting with the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) on Tuesday (05/11/2024) at the Ministry of ATR/BPN, Jakarta.

“All infrastructure development and regional development definitely need two most important instruments, namely land and spatial planning,” said Minister Nusron in a Coordination Meeting with Coordinating Minister AHY.

Minister Nusron explained that there are four focuses in the infrastructure sector.

The first is infrastructure that is oriented towards connectivity, namely the construction of toll roads and ports.

“We have to map this out first. The first task (ATR/BPN) is to immediately prepare a Land Acquisition Committee to support infrastructure projects and development,” he explained.

Minister Nusron further explained that generally there are two sources in Land Acquisition, namely land from the state or abandoned land.

If in the infrastructure development process there is community land used, then a compensation scheme will be carried out.

In addition to infrastructure that is oriented towards connectivity, the Minister of ATR/Head of BPN said that there is also infrastructure that supports the interests of land self-sufficiency.

Infrastructure that supports energy self-sufficiency; and infrastructure that supports downstreaming.

“All of that definitely needs land because that’s why we are in the Land Acquisition process to support the four infrastructure programs,” he said.

Coordinating Minister AHY on the same occasion said that without clear and legal land, infrastructure development cannot run well.

“So land matters must be managed, not only for physical development because the land is as much as possible for the prosperity and welfare of the people,” he said.

Also present at this Coordination Meeting were Deputy Minister of ATR/Deputy Head of BPN, Ossy Dermawan, High-Ranking and Pratama Officials of the Ministry of ATR/BPN and their staff.
