Receiving Waqf Certificates, Residents of Tanjung Hulu, East Pontianak No Longer Worry About Losing Their Mosque

Residents of Tanjung Hulu, East Pontianak are now no longer worried about losing the land for their mosque, namely the Araafiul A'laa Mosque. This mosque, which was built in 1985, officially received a waqf certificate on Saturday (22/06/2024). 

The Minister of ATR/Head of BPN, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) himself came directly to the Araafiul A'laa Mosque to hand over the certificate to the Chairman of the Foundation.

The waqf land certificates submitted are electronic, so their security is guaranteed. 

Chairman of the Babul Jannatul Firdaus Foundation, Edi Suwarno as the mosque manager said.

The Araafiul A'laa Mosque is a social facility after the residential complex was established.

By the previous mosque administrators, due to a lack of understanding regarding land, the mosque land was certified in the name of the Chairman of the Foundation.

Problems then occurred when the Chairman of the Foundation moved from Pontianak.

"The old chairman of the foundation moved to Bandung and then died there. We were forced to contact the heirs one by one who were scattered everywhere," said Edi Suwarno.

After taking quite a long time, the heir's family agreed to gather in Pontianak. They then made a Waqf Statement at the Religious Affairs Office (KUA).

Only after that can the processing of waqf land certificates be carried out by the Pontianak City Land Office.

"We want this to be certified as a waqf because we want legality over the land of this mosque.

"With this legality, the congregation will have a feeling of calm, otherwise we would also be worried that someone might claim the land," concluded Edi Suwarno.
