The Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) is also involved in supporting government programs by providing land for development purposes.
This was conveyed by the Minister of ATR/Head of BPN, Nusron Wahid in his remarks at the 3 Million Houses Program, Mutual Cooperation to Build Houses for the People, (09/11/2024).
“For us to support the issue of building 3 million houses, the first is to provide land.
Indeed, there is land that I have calculated and collected for land that has the potential to be idle, the amount is around 1.3 million hectares. But this 1.3 million hectares cannot possibly be used for all housing.
The Minister of Transmigration has asked for transmigration purposes, the Minister of Agriculture has also asked for the interests of helping to open rice fields,” explained Minister Nusron at the Bank Tabungan Negara Tower, Jakarta.
In the event organized by the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) together with BTN, Minister Nusron explained that ATR/BPN has conducted an identification related to abandoned land that has the potential to support several development programs.
“From the identification, there are requirements to be declared illegal (abandoned land, ed). The requirement is 2 years after the Building Use Rights (HGB) period has expired and the person concerned has not taken care of the tax process.
In order to meet the expectations of the Minister of PKP quickly, we are currently drafting regulations so that the decision to declare illegal is 6 months after the Cultivation Use Rights (HGU) status has expired,” explained the Minister of ATR/Head of BPN.
Regarding one of the focuses of the Ministry of ATR/BPN, namely the Protected Rice Fields (LSD) policy, Minister Nusron said that the land potential has indeed been calculated on Java Island, but it is still necessary to check the spatial planning elements.
He continued to emphasize that the existence of LSD must be maintained.
“If it is included in the LSD, then those of you who will build it into housing will be required to replace opening rice fields on other land because of course we are economically not allowed to fulfill the request of the Minister of PKP.
But sacrifice the request of the Minister of Agriculture for the sake of food security,” said Minister Nusron.
Minister of PKP, Maruarar Sirait on this occasion explained that he asked for support from various parties so that the 3 Million Houses for the People Program could run smoothly.
He also said that one of the potential lands that can be utilized for the benefit of this program is idle land/ex HGU and HGB from the Ministry of ATR/BPN.
“We ask for support for this program, in the past 2 weeks I have met with the Attorney General, also met with Minister Nusron regarding the provision of land for this program.
I hope there will be solid cooperation to support the development target,” he said.
In this activity, Minister Nusron was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of ATR/Deputy Head of BPN, Ossy Dermawan and the Director of Spatial Utilization Control, Aria Indra Purnama.
Also present at the event were Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian and BTN President Director, Nixon LP Napitupulu.
