Tangerang Regent Inaugurates Merah Putih Cooperative : Strengthening Village Economy and Independence

Tangerang Regent Moch Maesal Rasyid, accompanied by Deputy Regent Intan Nurul Hikmah, inaugurated the Merah Putih Village Cooperative (KDMP) in Sarakan Village, Sepatan District, on Monday (July 22, 2025).

On this occasion, Tangerang Regent Moch Maesal Rasyid expressed his appreciation for the synergy and cross-sector collaboration between the government, cooperatives, state-owned enterprises (BUMN), and regionally-owned enterprises (BUMD).

These parties collaborated and synergized to support the establishment of the Merah Putih Sarakan Village Cooperative, which was designated by the National Task Force as a pilot project for developing Merah Putih Village Cooperatives in Indonesia.

“We express our gratitude to all parties. With our shared commitment, the KDMP can be realized, not only to strengthen the village economy and independence but also to achieve food security, health, and community welfare,” said Regent Maesyal.

The establishment of the KDMP refers to Presidential Instruction Number 9 of 2025, which targets the establishment of 80,000 cooperatives to strengthen food security, economic equality, and make villages the main pillars of development.

Tangerang Regent Maesyal Rasyid emphasized that the Sarakan KDMP currently has 213 members consisting of various business groups, including crystal guava farmer groups, grape farmer groups, goat farming groups, and cattle farming groups.

“This cooperative is expected to become a center for education, village economic empowerment, and cooperative digitalization to realize modern, inclusive, and adaptive cooperatives,” he explained.

Furthermore, according to the Tangerang Regent, 274 village/sub-district cooperatives in Tangerang Regency have officially become legal entities.

Marked by the issuance of a legal entity approval decree by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

“More than just an economic institution, this cooperative will become a people’s movement directly targeting farmers, fishermen, and MSMEs in Tangerang Regency,” he added.

Furthermore, the Regent and Deputy Regent of Tangerang participated in the virtual inauguration of over 8,000 KDMPs, which was launched directly by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
