The Indonesian Journalists Association (IKWI) celebrated its 64th anniversary in an atmosphere of togetherness and simplicity.
Themed “IKWI’s Spirit of Togetherness Weaves Work, Carves History,” the celebration is expected to further strengthen solidarity among members and motivate them to continue working and making the best contributions.
The event, held at the Suara Merdeka Daily Office in Jakarta on Friday (July 25, 2025), was attended by the IKWI Central Board, members, and warakauri (members of the IKWI community).
On that occasion, the IKWI Board distributed 100 packages of food and basic necessities to warakawuri (members of the Greater Jakarta area) as a token of their love and concern.
The Chairperson of the IKWI Central Board, Andi Dasmawati, Ph.D., accompanied by the Secretary General of the IKWI Central Board, Novi Enebelty, emphasized the importance of the spirit of togetherness that has been a key pillar of the organization for decades.
“The spirit of togetherness and simplicity is our foundation. With this spirit, we can continue to move forward, overcome challenges, and give our best,” said Andi.
He also emphasized the commitment of all IKWI members to maintain their quality and leave a positive mark on the nation’s history.
The simple 64th anniversary celebration included the cutting of a tumpeng (rice cone) and an explanation of IKWI’s journey to its 64th year.
With over six decades under its belt, IKWI remains committed to supporting the role of women in the Indonesian press and serving as a forum for journalist families to support each other and grow together.
The Chairman of the IKWI Center also emphasized that IKWI is an independent social organization, founded on a shared desire to preserve the family life of the National Press.
He explained that IKWI was initially formed in the regions with the aim of strengthening ties, increasing knowledge, and broadening horizons to achieve happy and prosperous families.
The IKWI organization was then institutionalized as an independent social organization with management at the Central, Branch, and Representative levels.
At the closing of the General Conference of the Indonesian Journalists Association (IKWI) on July 19, 1961, held at the Press Club Building in Deca Park (Monas).
In Jakarta, the Central Board of the Indonesian Journalists Association (IKWI) was formed and the Articles of Association were drafted, Andi explained, recalling the organization’s founding.
Andi stated that he hoped this anniversary celebration would serve as a momentum to further strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and spark new enthusiasm in facing future challenges.
He also expressed his gratitude to PT Pelindo, PT Charoen Pokphand Indonesia, and PT Federal International Finance, as well as to the members who supported this activity.
