SERANG, POSINTERNASIONAL.COM.

The Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Nusron Wahid, handed over 13 certificates for waqf land for houses of worship and religious educational institutions in Banten Province on Friday (February 20, 2025).

The handover, which took place at the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) office in Banten, is part of the Ministry of ATR/BPN’s commitment to expediting the certification of waqf land to provide legal certainty for the community’s assets.

“This waqf belongs to the Muslim community. It represents the transfer of individual rights to the public, to the community.

Therefore, the state is here to ensure that waqf land has legal certainty through certification. I ask that this be done together,” said Minister of ATR/Head of the BPN, Nusron Wahid, after handing over the certificates.

Minister Nusron conveyed this call to expedite the certification of waqf land to all parties present at the meeting.

This includes the National Land Agency (BPN) Regional Office and the Land Office, which handle the technical certification process, as well as the Ministry of Religious Affairs Regional Office, which handles waqf administration.

Religious institutions such as Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Muhammadiyah, MUI (Indonesian Ulema Council), and other religious organizations are also expected to collaborate.

The number of houses of worship in Banten Province is 24,910.

Of this number, only 9,148 plots, or approximately 36.72%, have been certified.

This achievement demonstrates the significant room for accelerating land certification for houses of worship and waqf in the region.

Several breakthroughs continue to be made, including inter-agency collaboration and the establishment of waqf isbat (certification) sessions.

And the establishment of a dedicated waqf counter at the Land Office. This is intended to expedite the registration of all waqf land in Indonesia.

“This is what we must push together. The process of establishing mosques, prayer rooms, and other places of worship continues.

Therefore, the certification of waqf land must also be accelerated to align with the needs of the community,” said Nusron Wahid.

Following up on the directive regarding the acceleration of waqf certification, on the same occasion, a memorandum of understanding was signed between all Land Offices and Nahdlatul Ulama Branch Executives throughout Banten Province.

“The signing of the MoU, witnessed by the Minister and the Governor of Banten, demonstrates our commitment to ensuring the certification of all waqf land in Banten.

In the future, we will implement similar MoUs with other religious organizations,” said Harison Mocodompis, Head of the Banten Province BPN Regional Office.

The event was also attended by the Governor of Banten, Andra Soni; the Chairman of the Banten MUI, Bazari Syam; and the Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Amrullah.

Meanwhile, Minister Nusron was accompanied by the Head of the Public Relations and Protocol Bureau, Shamy Ardian, and staff from the Banten Province National Land Agency (BPN) Regional Office.
