Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) held a meeting with the Mission Director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Indonesia, Jeffery P. Cohen.
The discussion of this meeting revolved around opportunities for cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of land and spatial planning.
Where this is also in line with the ministry’s target to complete the registration target of 126 million land plots throughout Indonesia.
“By the end of the year, all land plots in Indonesia must be fully registered.
This is almost finished. Moreover, the land issue is a critical matter,” explained Minister AHY in a meeting that took place at the ATR/BPN Ministry Office, Jakarta on Wednesday (08/28/2024).
Minister AHY said that currently Indonesia is focusing on continuing development in many sectors. Starting from the economic sector, public welfare, poverty eradication, education, health and others.
“In this case, we want to be balanced, we want to continue to support infrastructure growth as a whole in Indonesia, but at the same time.
We also want to continue to ensure environmental sustainability for future generations,” said Minister AHY.
Minister AHY assessed that the opportunities for cooperation between Indonesia and the United States can be strengthened.
“I want to hear more about the programs offered, as well as what opportunities for collaboration and cooperation we can build,” said Minister AHY.
USAID Indonesia Mission Director, Jeffery P. Cohen said that cooperation between the United States and Indonesia has a vision, namely democracy, diversity, and prosperity. Some of the programs that have been implemented include water and sanitation programs.
This program plays a role in how to handle waste and waste recycling.
“We also work in the marine sector, such as marine conservation. We are also trying to address the impacts of climate change through preventing deforestation through the Forest Watch program.
The Forest Watch program aims to identify deforestation hotspots throughout the world.
Through enforcing climate change prevention, we want to protect environmental sustainability,” explained Jeffery P. Cohen.
In this activity, the Minister of ATR/Head of BPN was accompanied by Special Staff for Internal Management, Agust Jovan Latuconsina and Expert Staff for Internal Management, Mira Permatasari.
