Tangerang Regent 2013-2018, 2018-2023, Ahmed Zaki Iskandar received a Gold Pin award from the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Center which took place at the peak of the 79th National Press Day (HPN) commemoration which took place in Banjarmasin, Sunday, February 9, 2025.
The award was presented directly by the Head of the PWI Center Hendry Ch Bangun which was received by representatives of the Tangerang Regency Government, namely the Acting Head of the Communication and Informatics Service, Prima Saras Puspa.
The Gold Pin is a prestigious award given to figures from various regions in Indonesia who have contributed greatly to the progress of the press.
Ahmed Zaki Iskandar, during his two terms as Regent of Tangerang, was assessed as a figure who met the predicate, so he was awarded as a friend of PWI through the Gold Pin.
The General Chairperson of the Central PWI, Hendry Ch Bangun, said that Zaki had made a contribution to building the press in Tangerang Regency, so he deserved to receive the award.
“On this happy occasion, I would like to congratulate Mr. Ahmed Zaki Iskandar on the award of the Gold Pin that he received at the peak of the 79th National Press Day commemoration in Banjarmasin.
This award is not just a symbol, but an acknowledgment of his dedication and extraordinary contribution in advancing the world of the press, especially in Tangerang Regency.
During his tenure as Regent, Hendry continued, Zaki has shown a high commitment to press freedom and supported various initiatives that strengthen the relationship between the government and the media.
“We believe that good collaboration between the two parties is the key to creating a more informed and empowered society.”
Hendry also hopes that this award can be an inspiration for other figures throughout Indonesia to continue to contribute to advancing a quality and responsible press.
“Let us together maintain and strengthen the role of the media as a pillar of democracy and an important tool of social control in national development.”
Similarly, the Chairperson of the Tangerang Regency PWI, Sri Mulyo, said he was proud of the achievement.
“We are very proud of Zaki’s achievements.
This is proof that collaboration between the government and the press is very important in building a better society.
Hopefully this award will inspire all parties to continue to support quality and responsible journalism.”
The peak of the 79th National Press Day (HPN) commemoration was attended by various press, government, and community figures, including Minister of Culture Fadli Zon, South Kalimantan Governor Muhidin represented by the Acting Regional Secretary of South Kalimantan Province.
Muhammad Syarifuddin, Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, and representatives of ministries, the South Kalimantan Police Chief, the Commander of the VI/Mulawarman Military Command (Pangdam) who together celebrated the important role of the media in building the nation.
