Minister Nusron and Minister of Transmigration Agree to Utilize 564,957 Hectares of Abandoned Land to Make the Transmigration Program a Success

Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Nusron Wahid received a visit from the Minister of Transmigration, M. Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara at the ATR/BPN Ministry Office, Jakarta, (11/13/2024).

After this meeting, both parties agreed to utilize abandoned land in order to make the transmigration program a success.

“We need cooperation with any institution that can utilize abandoned land so that the land has economic value.

It just so happens that today the utilization comes from transmigration. So it’s a good match, he has a program and will bring people to utilize the land,” said Minister Nusron.

Nusron Wahid explained that the land indicated as abandoned that has the potential to be used for national programs, especially transmigration, is 564,957 hectares.

He also explained that the land is spread across all provinces in Indonesia.

“With the transmigration program, in the future, the abandoned lands will have high economic value, so that they are useful for the interests of the nation and state.

This is exactly what is expected and mandated by the 1945 Constitution Article 33 that the earth, water, air, and all its contents controlled by the state are used for the greatest prosperity of the people,” said the Minister of ATR/Head of BPN.

On the same occasion, the Minister of Transmigration appreciated the agreement taken with Minister Nusron in order to support the transmigration program, one of which is in the Papua region.

He said that his party continues to be committed to realizing economic value for the Indonesian people.

“It is impossible to place transmigrants without land, without spatial planning that has been determined or stipulated and approved by the Ministry of ATR/BPN.

The focus will be on how to develop areas that have added economic value for the nation and state,” explained M. Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara.

Accompanying Minister Nusron in this meeting were Deputy Minister of ATR/Deputy Head of BPN, Ossy Dermawan and Senior High and Secondary Officials of the Ministry of ATR/BPN.

Also present were Deputy Minister of Transmigration, Viva Yoga Mauladi and Senior High and Secondary Officials of the Ministry of Transmigration.
