Manado State University (UNM) academic Prof Dr OC Kaligis SH MH stated that Anies Baswedan’s performance needed to be criticized when he served as Governor of DKI Jakarta, regarding the Formula E and Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) projects.
“The stadium that Anies always praised turned out to be the AFF U-19 championship being held at Gelora Bung Tomo in Surabaya, East Java, and not at JIS,” said Prof OC Kaligis in Jakarta, Tuesday (13/8/2024).
Kaligis said why the football match was not at JIS even though Anies had always been proud of the lighthouse project.
He said that it was not because FIFA, after conducting a review, determined that JIS was not suitable for holding international football matches.
According to him, the state budget spent on building JIS did not meet FIFA standards both in terms of the field (grass) and in terms of other infrastructure because the field had to be refurbished, proving a waste of state money.
“Because of wasting state money in defiance of campaign promises, in the end it also failed to provide houses for poor people with zero percent down payment,” he said.
He questioned who would benefit, so it was clearly the contractor or construction contractor for the JIS project.
Especially since there were additional parking facilities so that the expenditure of state money swelled.
According to him, the party who benefits is also the contractor for the Formula E car racing circuit, which was originally built in Monas, Central Jakarta and then moved to Ancol, North Jakarta.
Specifically regarding the Formula E lighthouse project for investigating alleged corruption cases that were closed by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), even though Anies had heard his statement at the KPK for approximately 11 hours. Therefore, he said,
it is understandable that high electability in the pre-2024 gubernatorial election era is skilled at giving speeches and making promises so that Jakarta residents forget.
He added that imagine if Anies Baswedan succeeded in winning the Jakarta Pilkada, there would be many lighthouse projects and a waste of state money would occur.
Prof. Kaligis reminded Jakarta residents specifically that during the campaign period, Anies was skilled at giving speeches and could anesthetize the people, so he forgot about sweet promises.
