The Deputy Regent of Tangerang, Intan Nurul Hikmah, urged women to act intelligently and courageously for the common good.
This was stated by Deputy Regent Intan when opening a socialization event on Increasing Women’s Roles in Democratic Participation held by the Tangerang Regency Kesbangpol Agency at Qubika Boutique Gading Sepong on Thursday (05/02/26).
“To the great women present today, stand firm, speak politely, and fight with integrity for the advancement of society and the nation.
Nurture your idealism, maintain your honesty, and be women who are not only intelligent thinkers but also courageous in acting for the common good,” said Deputy Regent Intan.
According to her, true democracy is not just about votes being counted, but about voices being heard.
Therefore, the role of women in the democratic process is crucial and fundamental as guardians of conscience, balancers, and strengtheners of human values.
“Women are the guardians of conscience, the balancers, and the strengtheners of human values.
When women are actively involved in democracy, the resulting policies are not only legally sound but also just and conscientiously mature,” she said.
She also emphasized that the Tangerang Regency Government is committed to continuously opening up participation, increasing capacity, and implementing policies that support women’s empowerment.
However, true change comes from women’s courage to believe in themselves and continuously enrich their perspectives and policies.
Strengthening public accountability and expanding democratic space for a more humane society, both at the regional and national levels.
“Through this activity, we want to emphasize that women have the capacity, integrity, and intelligence to participate in determining the direction of development.
We want to see more women who dare to speak up, think critically, and take on strategic roles not because they are given mercy, but because they are truly worthy and capable,” she added.
She hopes that this outreach activity can be the starting point for real change in building a just, inclusive, equitable, and dignified democracy.
“Hopefully, the knowledge provided will be beneficial for all female political cadres in Tangerang Regency.
And for the female students, who knows, maybe one day you’ll want to enter politics to voice the people’s voice,” she concluded.
Meanwhile, the Head of the National Unity and Politics Agency (Kesbangpol), Agus Suryana, reported that one of the aims of the outreach program was.
to increase women’s understanding and knowledge of politics and the political system in Indonesia.
“The participants consisted of female political party members and female students from universities in Tangerang Regency,” he said.
