According to Hendry, Sasongko Tedjo’s action in holding a DK meeting without following these rules has no legal basis.

The Chairman of the Central PWI, Hendry Ch Bangun, strongly criticized the decision of the PWI Honorary Council (DK) which was considered illegal and invalid.

The DK’s decision to issue a letter to dismiss Hendry Ch Bangun from PWI membership was deemed to have no strong legal basis.

According to Hendry, DK had acted beyond its authority. “This decision was not the result of an official DK meeting.

“Five DK members don’t even know about this and have written to Sasongko Tedjo,” explained Hendry at the PWI Central Office, Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, July 16.

He added that the DK Chairman’s request to prepare an Extraordinary Congress (KLB) was also baseless.

“According to PD PRT Article 28, the KLB can only be carried out if the General Chair is the defendant in a case that demeans the dignity of journalists and is requested by at least 2/3 of the provinces,” he stressed.

Based on PWI Central Management Decree Number 218-PLP/PP-PWI/2024 dated 27 June 2024, the composition of the PWI Honorary Board for the 2023-2028 period has changed.

The current Chairman of the Honorary Council is Sasongko Tedjo, with Mahmud Matangara as Deputy Chairman and Tatang Suherman as Secretary.

Other members are Diapari Sibatangkayu, Akhmad Munir, Fathurrahman, M. Noeh Hatumena, Hendro Basuki, and Berman Nainggolan.

With this change, Nurcholis no longer serves as DK Secretary.

“Nurcholis no longer has legal standing to act on behalf of DK.

“Therefore, the decision letter issued is null and void,” said Hendry Ch Bangun.

Furthermore, Hendry said that all DK decisions could only be taken at a meeting attended by the Chair, Deputy Chair and DK Members in accordance with PWI Decree Number 218-PLP/PP-PWI/2024.

Hendry also highlighted DK’s request to the Head of Organizational Affairs to immediately carry out an Extraordinary Conference as an inconsequential action.

“The only person who has the authority to order the Chair of Organizational Affairs is the General Chair,” he stressed.

According to Hendry, Sasongko Tedjo’s action in holding a DK meeting without following these rules has no legal basis.

“This action does not have binding legal force,” he said.

Sasongko Tedjo was also assessed as having misused the letterhead and DK stamp without a valid Secretary’s signature.

So it is a legal violation with criminal implications. On this basis, the PWI Central Management gave the first and final warning to Sasongko Tedjo not to use DK’s attributes and name any longer since the change was made.

Sasongko was also given three days to apologize to the General Chair of the Central PWI and withdraw the statement he made in the release.

“If this warning is not heeded, we will take legal proceedings,” said Hendry Ch Bangun.
