TANGERANG, POSINTERNASIONAL.COM.

Tangerang Regent Moch. Maesyal Rasyid attended a logistics inspection for the Humanitarian Ship aid shipment.

This was for the second wave of aid for Sumatra, organized by the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) headquarters.

The event took place at the Tanjung Priok Domestic Port, Jakarta, on Friday (January 2, 2026).

On this occasion, Regent Maesyal Rasyid, who was accompanied by the Head of the Tangerang Regency PMI, who is also the Regional Secretary of Tangerang Regency, revealed that Tangerang Regency was invited directly by the PMI headquarters.

This was a token of appreciation for their significant contribution in assisting victims of the flash floods in Sumatra.

“Thank God, we had the opportunity to be present at Tanjung Priok Port.

To witness firsthand the humanitarian aid that will be sent to our brothers and sisters affected by the floods in Sumatra,” said Regent Maesyal Rasyid.

He explained that the Tangerang Regency Government (Pemkab) had distributed Rp 1.5 billion in humanitarian aid through the PMI headquarters.

In addition, the Tangerang Regency Government has also transferred direct aid to three disaster-affected areas in Sumatra, totaling IDR 1.2 billion.

“This invitation is a form of transparency and appreciation for Tangerang Regency’s participation in assisting disaster victims.

We will also continue to monitor developments and needs at the disaster site and prepare further aid, which will be collected through the Tangerang Regency Indonesian Red Cross (PMI),” he added.

Meanwhile, PMI Central Chairman Jusuf Kalla stated that this logistics inspection aims to ensure that all aid collected from donors is distributed properly and on target.

“Our purpose in inviting you is to express our gratitude to the donors.

And to demonstrate directly that aid, in the form of goods and funds, is truly being distributed and sent via humanitarian ship to Sumatra,” said Jusuf Kalla.

He also emphasized that the second wave of aid delivery is part of PMI Central’s commitment to helping accelerate the handling and recovery of communities affected by the floods in Sumatra.

On the same occasion, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, who was also in attendance, appealed to donors.

They should channel their aid through the Ministry of Health, particularly assistance related to health services.

“We desperately need assistance in the form of medical equipment such as beds for hospitals and community health centers.

As well as laptops and computers to support health services in hospitals,” said Budi Gunadi.

He also emphasized that in addition to providing health facilities and infrastructure, volunteers, especially resilient medical personnel, are also needed.

They are desperately needed to support health services and treatment in the three affected locations.

“We also need truly resilient health volunteers to be deployed to the affected areas.

Because the people there still desperately need health services,” he concluded.
