Tangerang Regent Moch Maesyal Rasyid inaugurated the Kwan Kong Bio Lithang Bukit Ni Makin Ciapus Confucian House of Worship, Panongan District, Sunday (4/27/25).
In his remarks, the Regent emphasized the importance of maintaining harmony, mutual respect, and tolerance between religious communities, ethnicities, and tribes in Tangerang Regency.
The government is present to ensure that all religious communities can carry out their worship safely and peacefully.
“There should be no limitations in humanitarian relations.
We, the Government, are here to ensure that all religious communities can carry out their worship safely and peacefully,” said Regent Maesyal Rasyid.
He added that the regional government supports the construction of houses of worship regardless of religion as long as they are in accordance with applicable regulations, namely the joint regulations of the Minister of Religion and the Minister of Home Affairs.
“We, the government, do not prohibit or limit any belief or religion in Tangerang Regency to establish a house of worship.
As long as the process is carried out correctly and in accordance with applicable regulations and rules.
We allow the establishment of a house of worship, as long as everything has been carried out and is in accordance,” he said.
He hopes that the Kwan Kong Bio house of worship will not only be used for religious activities, but also become a place for social activities that are beneficial for the entire community.
“We want this house of worship to be a center of activities that strengthen a sense of togetherness. This is our principle in building tolerance in Tangerang Regency,” he added.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Confucian High Council (MATAKIN), Xs. Budi Santoso Tanuwibowo.
In his remarks, he expressed his pride in the spirit of mutual cooperation of the Confucian youth who had built the place of worship.
“This Lintang was built thanks to the initiative and hard work of the Confucian youth. This place is expected not only for prayer, but also to be a space for friendship and social activities,” said Budi Santoso.
He also reminded that the figure of Kwan Kong, who inspired the name of this house of worship, is respected for his loyalty, honesty, and patriotism, not only for his greatness on the battlefield.
“This house of worship should be a symbol of virtue, honesty, and devotion to others,” he said.
In addition, Budi Santoso also appreciated the government for all its efforts in restoring the rights of Confucianists in Indonesia, including in the recognition of identity on KTP.
The inauguration was also attended by the Head of Kesbangpol, FKUB, Kemenag, Sekcam elements of Muspika, community leaders, donors, and local residents.
The spirit of tolerance and togetherness was felt in this event, emphasizing the commitment of Tangerang Regency as a region that respects diversity.
