Tangerang Regent Moch Maesyal Rasyid officially opened the 2025 Tangerang Regency Student Sports Week (POR) at the Panongan Mini Stadium, Tuesday (6/17/2025).
In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of sports as a means of character building and student achievement, as well as a means of recruiting athletes to face the Banten Province POPDA.
He also invited all participants to uphold sportsmanship and a spirit of togetherness, as prospective leaders and regional sports ambassadors.
“Sports are not only for health, but also for achievement. With this championship, we prepare Tangerang Regency students to welcome the Banten Province POPDA,” said Regent Maesyal Rasyid.
This activity was attended by 1,674 participants consisting of athletes, referees, and officials. According to Regent Maesyal, the Student POR is an important momentum in recruiting superior student seeds.
As preparation for the Banten Province level student sports championship and other higher events.
He emphasized that Tangerang Regency has a long history as the best, and that predicate must be maintained.
He advised that this long history can be used as encouragement to all participants to show their best abilities, sportsmanship and a spirit of togetherness.
“I entrust to the athletes, officials, and referees, carry out this Student POR with sportsmanship. Don’t get emotional, don’t protest excessively.
You are the forerunners of future leaders and regional sports ambassadors to the national level,” he said.
Through the implementation of this Student POR, the Tangerang Regency Government shows its commitment to exercising the community and popularizing sports.
As an effort to create a healthy, tough, and high-achieving young generation.
The Head of the All-Indonesian Student Sports Supervisory Board (BAPOPSI) of Tangerang Regency, Mamat Matlubi, in his report said that the sports being competed include football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, and pencak silat.
“In addition to being a competition event, this Student POR is a means of selecting outstanding athletes who will be prepared for the Banten Provincial Regional Sports Week which is planned to be held in June 2026 in Cilegon City,” explained Mamat.
