Tangerang Regent, Moch. Maesyal Rasyid attended and directly monitored the implementation of the Cheap Food Movement (GPM) held at the Balaraja District Office Yard, Tuesday (4/3/25).
On the sidelines of his review, Regent Maesyal Rasyid said that the GPM program aims to help the community meet basic needs at affordable prices, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
The GPM in Balaraja District provides 5,900 cheap basic food packages for the people of Balaraja District.
“I am present in Balaraja District to ensure that the implementation of this cheap basic food bazaar is running well.
We are holding this to help the community meet basic needs at affordable prices, especially during the holy month of Ramadan,” said Maesyal Rasyid
He added that several districts have held GPM for their communities and some other districts are preparing to also hold GPM in the districts to help ease the burden on the community.
“This program has been implemented in various sub-districts in Tangerang Regency, and today we are holding it in Balaraja. The target is that this program can be implemented in 29 sub-districts,” he said.
GPM in Balaraja District, each village received around 655 packages, containing 1 kg of flour, 1 kg of rice, 1 kg of sugar, and 1 liter of cooking oil. The basic food packages worth Rp65,000 are sold for Rp35,000.
He also said that the local government through the sub-district heads and village heads will coordinate and synergize to rearrange the distribution schedule for cheap basic food packages for people who have not received them.
His party will also continue to monitor and evaluate the implementation of GPM in 29 sub-districts.
“We will evaluate and plan this program again, especially ahead of Eid al-Fitr.
If the regional financial conditions allow, it is possible that this program will be held every month so that people continue to benefit from it,” he explained.
The Regent took the time to have a direct dialogue with the beneficiary residents and received a positive response.
Residents expressed their gratitude to the Tangerang Regency Government for this program, which has greatly helped them in facing their needs during the holy month of Ramadan.
One of the Balaraja residents, Maemunah (54 years old), expressed her gratitude for the GPM program and hoped that it could be held routinely in the sub-district.
“Alhamdulillah, I am very happy with this cheap basic food bazaar.
This program has greatly helped us, especially during the month of Ramadan, when the price of basic necessities often increases.
With cheaper prices, we can be a little calmer in meeting our daily needs,” said Maemunah.
