Tangerang Regent Distributes 2,000 Affordable Food Packages, Residents Enthusiastically Crowd Affordable Food Movement at Tigaraksa Square.

Tangerang Regent Moch. Maesyal Rasyid distributed 2,000 affordable food packages during the Affordable Food Movement (GPM) held by the Department of Industry and Trade in collaboration with the Tangerang Regency Department of Agriculture at Tigaraksa Square, Tangerang Regency Government Center, on May 14, 2026.

Regent Maesyal Rasyid stated that the regional government will continue to be present among the community through various programs that directly address residents’ needs, one of which is the Affordable Food Movement.

“The regional government is always present among the community.

Especially in the current situation, we anticipate and respond to community needs through the Affordable Food Movement implemented by the Department of Industry and Trade and the Department of Agriculture,” said Regent Maesyal.

He explained that basic food packages, normally priced at around Rp 85,000, can be purchased by the public for just Rp 43,000, or more than half the market price.

“The Department of Industry and Trade is preparing basic food packages that cost Rp 85,000 to purchase, but are being sold for Rp 43,000. So, this is half the price and can be utilized by the public,” he explained.

In addition to the affordable basic food packages, the Department of Agriculture also provides various other food needs, such as vegetables and processed agricultural and fishery products, at affordable prices.

In fact, 5 kilograms of rice are being sold for only Rp 17,000.

“This is an effort by the regional government to help ease the burden on the people of Tangerang Regency. All sub-districts will receive a turn,” he added.

He also revealed that the GPM program, which was previously held every three months in 2025, has now been increased to every two months in 2026.

“In 2025, it was every three months, but now in 2026 we will increase it to every two months. God willing, if regional financial capacity allows, in 2027 it can be once a month,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Tangerang Regency Industry and Trade Office, Resmiyati Marningsih, stated that the Affordable Food Movement (Garangan Pangan Murah) is held periodically as a form of regional government intervention to maintain price stability and public purchasing power.

She continued, stating that 2,000 basic food packages were provided during the program.

The affordable packages consist of 2 kilograms of premium rice, 1 kilogram of wheat flour, 1 kilogram of granulated sugar, and 1 liter of cooking oil.

“The normal price for a basic food package is around Rp85,000, but people can afford it for Rp43,000,” she explained.

This program is one of the concrete steps taken by the Tangerang Regency Government to help ease the burden on the community amidst the economic downturn and rising prices of basic necessities.

Nurjanah, a resident, said she was greatly helped by the affordable food program. She hopes similar activities can be held more frequently and the number of packages provided during future GPM (Food Distribution Program).

“I hope the affordable food packages can be held more often and the number of packages increased. This is very helpful for women,” she said.
